Several years ago, I shifted my personal camera system from Nikon to mirrorless. I still use Nikon d750 at work, and my Nikon FM10 and Nikon D70 is still at bay. At present, a lens adaptor for Fujifilm XA1 is already available in the market. I can now use my Nikon lenses to it. Metabone is the famous one but a little bit expensive for me and the Fotodiox Pro which is more affordable. I got my Fotodiox Pro Nikon Mount in Amazon and have it shipped it to UAE.

It's nice to be outside to take a walk since the weather is starting to drop. I roam around the area and check what life might offer. I decided to first use the Nikon35mm F1.8 on my first night of solo photo walk. I've set my camera to black and white film simulation with everything left in Manual (aperture, shutter, and focus).
It needs some time to let the set up sunk in at first. Need to get that gut feeling of a film photographer back in the groove, have the right touch for focusing and of course the wit of the street.
As I felt more relaxed using this setup, I took my time to compose before hitting the shutter. I challenged myself to shoot in black and white during my first walk. And mind you...it's night time so it's quite a bit challenging. No camera stabilization is available for this setup, so camera shake is inevitable. It's like using a film camera but with a digital negative.
Here are my selected images during the walk.

The first night went well. I'm getting back the touch to be faster again during focusing like the good old days. On the second night of the solo photo walk, I changed lenses to Nikon 85mm F1.8 from 35mm. I expected it will be a little harder than before because of the focal distance, and that's what I'm excited about.
The 85mm glass is still superb in performance even in Manual. Fotodiox Pro is doing a great job with the lenses. Luckily, there are no light leaks for my copy.
Here is the result of my second night.

I took the images around Sharjah. Bear in mind to be extra careful when doing photography in UAE. The rules for photography here in UAE is more strict than other countries. Know what's allowed and not allowed to shoot at. You don't want to get into trouble by shooting into prohibited areas. With all the restrictions, take advantage of it to be more creative and decisive before hitting that shutter.
As a conclusion, I am very pleased with the results of my Fujifilm XA1 and Fotodiox Pro combo. I hope I can try it in my Nikon 50mm F1.8 some other day.
